Imam Maturudi The Intellectual backbone of Ahle Sunnah

 Every Hanafi must know Imam Maturudi rah.  The Intellectual Backbone of Aqeedah of Hanafi Maslak And Ahle Sunnah. Preserver And Defender of Aqeedah Of Ahle Sunnah- Summarized.

Imam Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī along with Imam Al-Ashari is considered as the intellectual backbone and preserver of Aqeedah of Ahle Sunnah. Imam Abu Hanafi r.a himself was a follower of Imam Maturudi r.a

It is important to know beforehand that  generally most of we Hanafis are not aware that in matters of creed or aqeedah we follow Imam Ashari and Imam Matrudi  school, mazhab or maslak thereby we are muqallids of Imam Al-Maturudi and Imam Al-Ashari maslak in the same way as we are muqallids of Hanafi Maslak in matters of fiqh. Imam Al Ashari rah and Imam Al Maturidi rah are the two presever and intellectual backbone of  aqeedah of the Salaf. They made the aqeedah of Ahle Sunnah stand apart from the mischiefs of deviant aqeedahs or doctrines.

Imam Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī was born in  853–944 CE in Samarkand in Uzbekistan. He followed the Hanafi school of law.

Imam Maturidi founded the Maturidi school of theology, or aqeedah one of the two main Sunni theological traditions, the other one being Imam Al Ashari school. 

Maturidi school believes in  balancing reason and revelation which means human reason can recognize Allah's existence and basic moral truths.

Revelation i.e Qur’an & Sunnah is  essential for guidance, law, and details of aqeedah. 

Imam Maturudi strongly defended the aqeedah of the salaf  against: extreme rationalists like the Mu‘tazila and also the literalists who rejected reason, altogather.

 Core aqeedah of Al-Maturudi school or maslak are the following. 

 

1. Allaah’s ﷻ attributes are affirmed without anthropomorphism

2. Iīmān is belief in the heart; actions perfect the faith but don’t define it.

3. Humans have real choice, but everything still occurs by Allaah’s ﷻ will.

4. Moral responsibility exists even before revelation reaches a person and so on.
